📚 Join Us for the Annual Dictionary Project – This Thursday!
All members are invited to gather at Greg Gaudette’s office on Thursday, October 30, at 6:00 PM for our annual Dictionary Project. We’ll be organizing and inserting bookplates into the dictionaries before they’re delivered to local students.
This is a rescheduled work session since we had no participation last week, and it’s important that we get the dictionaries ready this Thursday so we can begin deliveries right away.
Your help is needed—please make plans to attend!
It’s a fun, hands-on way to make a difference in our community and share the gift of learning with young readers.
A Surprise Speaker with an Inspiring Story
This week’s meeting brought a delightful surprise when Past District Governor Dan Garrison stepped up as our guest speaker. Dan shared his personal journey of transformation—from an uninterested student to a lifelong educator and leader.
His heartfelt and humorous reflections resonated especially with the educators in the room, including Los Lunas Schools Superintendent Susan Chavez and visiting retired educators District Governor Nominee Brinet Greenlee and her husband Bob Greenlee from Salinas, California, who were in town for the Rotary Zone Institute.
It was a memorable talk that reminded us all of the power of education, perseverance, and the unexpected paths that lead to service.
Special Guests from California
This week, we were delighted to welcome Brinet and Bob Greenlee, guests of George Greenlee (Bob’s cousin), who were in town attending the Rotary Zone Institute.
Brinet currently serves as District Governor Nominee for District 5230 in Salinas, California. An “Air Force brat,” she grew up traveling across the U.S. and England before her family settled in Salinas. She earned her degrees from San José State University and spent over 30 years in education as a teacher and administrator.
A Rotarian since 2014, Brinet became the charter president of the Rotary Club of Salinas Valley in 2019, where she helped launch a thriving Interact Club at Rancho San Juan High School—one of her proudest achievements. She has also served as Assistant Governor, District Board member, and District Interact Chair.
Brinet and Bob, both retired educators, are proud parents of three and grandparents of eight. Each summer, Brinet hosts “Grammy Camp” for her grandkids, and the couple enjoys traveling, baseball, the arts, and exploring great food and wine.
We were honored to have them visit and share their Rotary passion with our club!
Our President Represents Our District at DISC Workshop!
We’re proud to share that our very own Club President, Leyda Hahn, successfully completed the District International Service Chair (DISC) Workshop during the Rotary Zone Institute held in Albuquerque!
Representing our District, she joined fellow Rotarians in learning more about strengthening international service and global grant initiatives. The training offered valuable insight and inspiration to help expand our district’s global impact and partnerships.
Congratulations to our president for proudly representing our district and continuing to lead with dedication and Rotary spirit!
Zone Institute Gala Wraps Up a Wonderful Week of Rotary Fellowship
The Rotary Zone Institute concluded with a spectacular Gala honoring the graduation of all District Governor-Elects who had just completed their training. We were especially thrilled to celebrate our own District Governor-Elect, Jeffrey Weinrach.
George Greenlee and Leyda Hahn from our club joined in the festivities, hosted by Jeff and his lovely wife, Clare. The event brought together both current and past District Governors, along with a large gathering of Rotarians.—not only from our district but also from across Zones 26 and 27—for a night of fellowship, inspiration, and celebration.
It was a memorable way to close an incredible week of learning, connection, and Rotary inspiration!
It’s been an exciting and busy week for our club! From inspiring speakers to fellowship with Rotarians from near and far, and taking action in our community, we’ve shared meaningful experiences together.
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this week so special!
