Rotary Zone Institute: Connecting, Learning, and Leading Together
Happening this week, the 2025 Big West Rotary Institute is a vibrant gathering designed to inspire, educate, and connect Rotarians from across our Zone. The event features interactive sessions, leadership development workshops, and networking opportunities that strengthen clubs and expand Rotary’s impact both locally and globally.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas, sharpen leadership skills, and collaborate with Rotarians from throughout the region who share your commitment to Service Above Self.
Don’t miss out on this week’s celebration of Rotary leadership, learning, and fellowship!
Last Week at the
Rotary Club of Los Lunas
Last week, we welcomed Gloria Tfoya from Hakes Brothers Homes, who shared exciting updates about new home developments in our area. It’s always inspiring to learn about the growth happening in our community and how it supports Rotary’s mission to build stronger, more vibrant neighborhoods.
For more information about Hakes Brothers or to contact Gloria directly, you can reach her at:
A big thank you and congratulations to Louis, who has graciously volunteered to serve as our club’s President-Elect!
Louis will take the helm as our next President on July 1, 2026. We’re excited about his leadership and dedication to Rotary values — and we’re looking forward to a bright future for our club under his guidance.
Dictionary Project: Hands-On Service Night This Thursday
All members are invited to gather at Greg Gaudette’s office on Thursday, October 23, at 6:00 PM for our annual Dictionary Project. We’ll be organizing and inserting bookplates into the dictionaries before they’re delivered to local students.
It’s a fun, hands-on evening of fellowship and service — and pizza will be provided! Bring your helping hands and appetite for good company and community spirit.
Lending a Paw Joins World Polio Day Celebration
Our Interact Club, Lending a Paw will be at the Albuquerque Civic Plaza on Friday, October 24, from 2:30 to 4:30 PM, participating in Rotary’s World Polio Day festivities.
All Rotarians and community members are encouraged to attend this inspiring event to raise awareness and celebrate Rotary’s global effort to End Polio Now.
Jubilee Arts & Crafts Fair – Supporting Local Causes
Join us for the Jubilee Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday, October 25, from 9 AM to 3 PM!
This year’s event will benefit the Los Lunas High School Lending a Paw and El Ranchito De Los Niños. Enjoy over 60 local vendors, a bake sale, and a raffle with dozens of great prizes.
Don’t miss George Greenlee’s singing group performing live from 10:30 to 11:15 AM — a true highlight of the day! Come shop, sing along, and support two wonderful causes.
Clothes for Kids: Our Biggest Year Yet!
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 12, and Thursday, November 13 at Walmart for our annual Clothes for Kids event.
This year, we’ll serve 100 children from the Los Lunas School District — our largest group ever (previously 60)!
To make this possible, we’ll need all hands on deck — members, spouses, friends, and our Interact Club. Let’s come together to make this a warm and joyful experience for every child we serve.
Global Grants: Expanding Our Reach Around the World
Our club continues to make a global impact through Rotary Foundation projects! We’ve pledged to support three proposed Global Grants:
Heart surgery for children in Mexico
Cleft palate surgery for children in Mexico
Job training for women in Nepal to help them launch sewing businesses
In addition, we’re supporting a project providing prosthetic legs, job training, and job placement in Mexico. These grants exemplify how Rotary’s reach extends far beyond our borders, changing lives one project at a time.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! I’ll be attending a leadership workshop at the Rotary Zone Institute this week. I encourage all members to attend the Institute if possible — and be sure to join Friday’s World Polio Day events, a wonderful way to support both Rotary’s global mission and the efforts of our Interact Club, Lending a Paw!
Because of this, I won’t be at our regular meeting, but I know the fellowship and energy of our club will continue as strong as ever. Thank you all for your ongoing dedication and service — together, we’re truly making a difference in our community and beyond.
